I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Cyber Analysis & Defense (CA&D) department at Fraunhofer FKIE, headed by Prof. Dr. Elmar Padilla. Since 2020, I have been leading the “Maritime Cyber Security” research group, focusing on the cybersecurity of maritime systems ranging from integrated bridge systems on modern container vessels to unmanned underwater vehicles. In this role, I initiated and organize the annual MarCaS workshop, fostering exchange on maritime cybersecurity research.

In December 2019, I received my PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in Computer Science from OsnabrĂĽck University, where I was a member of the Distributed Systems group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nils Aschenbruck. My doctoral research addressed sensor networks for smart farming, with a focus on robust and energy-efficient wireless communication as well as security and privacy mechanisms, carried out in the context of several interdisciplinary research projects. I hold a Diploma degree in Computer Science (equivalent to an M.Sc.) from the University of Bonn. During my studies, I was affiliated with the Communication Systems research group, where I developed a strong foundation in computer networks and communication technologies, including an early focus on network security.

My research interests include:

  • Maritime Cyber Security
  • Network Security & Privacy
  • Internet of Things & Cyber-Physical Systems
  • Underwater Acoustic Networks
  • Wireless Sensor Networks
